Each registered domain name has at least two Name Server records that show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you direct your domain to the servers of a certain web hosting company. That way, you've got both your website and your emails managed by the very same company. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), however, there are a number of other records, like A and MX. The former reveals which server handles the website for a given domain address and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter shows which server handles the e-mails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For instance, when you enter a domain in your Internet browser, your request is sent through the global DNS system to the company whose NS records the domain name uses and from there you will be directed to the servers of a different company in case you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain. Having separate records for the website and the emails suggests that you can have your site and your e-mails with two different companies if you'd like.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Website Hosting

If you have a Linux cloud website hosting through us, you're going to be able to see, create and modify any A or MX record for your domains. So long as a specific domain has our Name Servers, you're going to be able to modify specific records through our Hepsia hosting Control Panel and have your website or emails directed to another company if you would like to use only one of our services. Our state-of-the-art tool is going to allow you to have a domain address hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted someplace else by modifying only its A record - this will not affect the main domain the slightest bit. If you choose to use the email services of another company and they want you to set up more than 2 MX records, you can easily do it with only a couple of mouse clicks within the DNS Records section of your Control Panel. You can also set different latency for every single MX record i.e. which one will have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Accessing and editing the A or MX records for each of your domains or subdomains is really easy if you acquire a semi-dedicated server plan from us. The accounts are handled using our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel, which includes a section dedicated to the DNS records of your domain names. The latter is going to be listed alphabetically and you may click on any one of them to see both the A and the MX records. Editing any record is as easy as entering the new one in a text box and saving the change, so even though you may have never dealt with such matters before, you'll not experience any troubles if you wish to point your website or emails to a different service provider while keeping the second service with our company. When required, you can also create additional MX records and set a certain priority based on the recommendations of the new provider.
