Started in 2001, the Dot NAME extension is the sole TLD supposed to be for personal websites only. These domains can be personal or fictitious names, aliases and/or other titles people are known by. At first, solely 3rd-level registrations were allowed, so if you wanted to obtain john.doe.name, you were supposed to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration procedures were loosened and 2nd-level registrations were also permitted. Already purchased 3rd-level domain names remained functional.

You will have the opportunity to modify the WHOIS contact info, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also move over an already registered domain to our company if you have its EPP transfer key from the current registrar company and we will renew it once the transfer has been completed. There are no specific rules on who can get a .NAME domain, but in order to preserve the objective behind its establishment alive, the Registry may verify who the Registrant is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration might be challenged.
